Wine & Food

Marlborough Wine Marlborough is New Zealand’s largest wine growing region, with around 65 wineries and 290 grape growers, covering around 4000 hectares. The main wines grown in Marlborough are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. If you love wine, Marlborough is the place to visit.

Treat yourself to a weekend away, or plan ahead and book accommodation now at Blenheim TOP 10 Holiday Park for the annual Marlborough Wine Festival next held February each year.

The Marlborough Wine Festival showcases a selection of Marlborough’s wines and promotes the area as New Zealand’s largest winegrowing region and the international home of Sauvignon Blanc. Take your pick from around 200 wines from over 40 local wineries. Accompany your wine with a selection of delicious local gourmet food.
Gourmet Food If wine isn’t your thing, but you love a good brew, visit the Brightstone Blues, Brews & BBQ. This is a celebration of good brews, great food and amazing Blues and Rhythm and Blues music. The full-day event is held every year, in February. Make your way around the 40 sites, trying a selection of over 70 beers and BBQ treats such as wild pork, local seafood and ostrich.

A more frequent attraction is the Marlborough Farmers Market, held every Sunday (November- May), rain or shine. The aim of the market is for customers to be able to purchase all of their edible shopping needs in one place. So from fresh berries, to stone fruits, vegetables, wild meats, olive oils, sheep’s milk, cheese, herbs, breads and preserves, you’ll find fresh produce to satisfy any craving!
Sea Food Due to its coastal location, Marlborough is also known for its delicious seafood, particularly its NZ famous Green Lipped Mussels. Due to the importance of the mussel industry in Marlborough, the Havelock Mussel Festival is held every year in March to celebrate the NZ mussel industry and Havelock’s increasingly significant part in it.

The festival is a day for the whole family, with fine food, entertainment and education on offer all day long. Enter one of the fun competitions, explore the art and craft stalls or sit back and enjoy the popular local and national bands on offer.
